International Women’s day is on 8th March every year. The day provides us with an important opportunity to celebrate women’s success and achievements whilst campaigning for great equality.
This year the main campaign for International Women’s Day 2020 theme is #EachforEqual. Find out more about the campaign theme here!
Celebrate International Women’s Day this year:
Spend time with the most important women in your life
We all have “our girls” or that one inspirational woman in our life – well this week, take some time our of your hectic day to day schedule and spend some quality time with those women in your life that are important to you. You don’t have to do anything crazy; popping for a quick coffee or almond milk chai latte (if that is your beverage of choice) will be the perfect opportunity to catch up and put the world to right.
Give back to other women
You know that New year resolution you made? You know, the one where you were going to take up some voluntary work or charity work… why not take this opportunity to do it?
You could dedicate your time to a female specific charity or community group in the spirit of International Women’s day!
Own that goal
Celebrate International Women’s day by successfully achieving that goal you have! If it is as simple as going for a long run, reading that book that your bestie recommended last year or even doing a facemask once a week – use International Women’s day as the inspiration you need to achieve it.
Be that girl boss
Have you been looking to reach that next level in your career for a while? Well, stop looking and start doing! In the spirit of International Women’s Day, why not pop along to a women’s networking event or put your big girl pants on and have that awkward conversation with your manager to discuss your progress. That promotion or new job won’t just land in your lap, you will have to work for it!
Women supporting other women is a key topic in our media right now. Therefore, start boosting your friends by supporting them, showing them love and giving them that extra confidence boost. In the words of our favourite Love Island presenter “In a world where you can be anything, be kind.” This statement has recently made it to the forefront of the media following Caroline Flack’s tragic death.
You can buy a t-shirt with this statement on it where 100% of profits will be donated to the Samaritans Charity too.
If you want to bask in the presence of your own amazing’ness, then do it! Put your feet up, watch your favourite movie or pop to your nearest nail salon for a manicure. You own this year’s International Women’s Day.
